SKANSKA Gritter Driving Role Cambridgeshire HGV Driving Job - Winter Maintenance 2019/20 Season Our infrastructure services team delivers projects that maintain and enhance the built environment. Part of that is our work to operate, maintain and improve large parts of the UK road network. Whether you're involved in frontline operational work, design, project management or office-based services, every day you'll be helping to improve the lives of millions of people. Skanska are currently looking for HGV Class 2 drivers to work on the Highways Maintenance contract in Cambridgeshire for the winter season from November 4th 2019 until April 10h 2020 as Winter Maintenance drivers. The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover this period The role: In this job you will be driving a gritting vehicle, known as Winter Maintenance driving. This requires you to be on call on a week on week off basis for the season. If called out, routes will be allocated to you to spread grit onto the road surface using an HGV Class 2 Gritting Vehicle. The job will be based at one of our Depots in March, Witchford, Whittlesford and Huntingdon dependant on where you live. Ideal Candidate: You'll have a valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. However if required training sessions for this City and Guilds qualification will be arranged for early October 2018 and the above mentioned temporary contract will be extended to cover this. This role would ideally suit retired or part time LGV drivers. Requirements: You must hold a full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC. Shifts and Pay Rates: Drivers must commit to one week on standby, then one week off. When you are on Standby you can be called out at any time to undertake a grit run. Generally the runs will be undertaken between 1800hrs and 0600hrs, but this can obviously change subject to weather conditions.
